There are a lot of us lean, mean, data-analyzing machines out there in the real and virtual worlds, and it's easy for interesting colleagues to get lost in the
shuffle. With that in mind, we've launched Data Heads, a series of profiles of some of the most
intriguing database professionals out there.

I’m from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. It’s a small city but it’s got a reputation for having a strong high-tech sector. In fact, I understand the winner of the Red Gate DBA in Space contest works in Waterloo. I love it here. I went to University here and have been here since.

Jason Strate
I live in Minnesota, by way of my first few years in Nashville, TN. I work as an enterprise consultant for Digineer; a regional management and technology company.

Jes Schultz Borland
I live in Oshkosh, WI, and I am starting a job as a Technology Consultant. I’ll be putting on my database cape to help clients clean up existing database solutions, and create new ones. I also get to jump back in the Business Intelligence pool, which I love.

I live in Jacksonville, Florida, and work for Pragmatic Works. We’re a consulting firm with a focus primarily around Business Intelligence. I always have at least one trusty chicken nearby.

I am from all over the place. I was raised in the military and grew up in many places throughout the United States and Germany. I hail from Grantsville, Utah now. I work for a company that provides Software as a Service (SaaS).

I am from Scotland originally, so I particularly like the SQLKilt community fun that SQLPass informally arranges every year! I run a Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence consultancy called Copper Blue, which I run jointly with SQL Server MVP Allan Mitchell.

Robert Pearl
Although I mostly work at client sites in the Greater NYC area, I have many customers nationwide and internationally. As founder of Pearl Knowledge Solutions, Inc., the company is good to me, and I know the boss personally.
