About Adam Machanic

Adam MachanicAdam Machanic is dedicated to getting the most out of SQL Server–and to helping others do the same. He has spent the last 15 years consulting, teaching, and writing about SQL Server, and is especially focused on data architecture, database development, and performance tuning.

Adam is perhaps best known for having authored the award-winning SQL Server monitoring stored procedure, sp_whoisactive, used by tens of thousands of DBAs daily to gain insight into what’s really happening on their SQL Servers.

Adam has contributed to several books on SQL Server, including the popular SQL Server Internals series and T-SQL Querying. He is regularly invited to present breakout sessions and full-day workshops at conferences across North America and Europe, and has spoken numerous times at large events such as the PASS Summit and Microsoft TechEd.

Adam is proud to have been named a Microsoft MVP for SQL Server every year since 2004.
